Sending a push is free: Google’s FCM and Apple’s APNs charge nothing per message. What the free tiers differ on is everything around sending: storing tokens per user, topics, scheduling, a dashboard and logs. Here is every free option in 2026 and where each one stops.

The free options

Service Free tier Platforms What you still build
Firebase Cloud Messaging Unlimited Android, iOS, web Token storage, targeting, scheduling, cleanup, dashboard
Expo push Unlimited Android, iOS (Expo apps) Targeting, scheduling, dashboard
OneSignal Mobile push up to 1,000 users; web push and email on free limits Android, iOS, web Nothing for basic push
Pusher Beams 1,000 devices Android, iOS, web Segments, composer
Truepush Free Mainly web Mobile app support is limited
SignOps 1,000 devices Android, iOS, web Nothing for push

Past the free tier

Users or devices OneSignal Pusher Beams SignOps
5,000 About Rs 5,900 Rs 2,550 ($29, for 10,000) Rs 499
50,000 About Rs 53,400 Rs 8,700 ($99) Rs 4,999

Before GST, at about Rs 88 to the dollar.

How to choose

  • One app, a backend, a developer with time: use FCM directly. It is free and you control everything.
  • An Expo app with simple sends: Expo’s push service.
  • Campaigns, journeys and in-app messages: OneSignal.
  • Push plus sign-in on the same user id, priced in rupees: SignOps, free for 1,000 devices, with push approvals, passkeys and email OTP on the same account.

One thing no free tier fixes

On Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo and Realme phones, battery savers stop apps and drop pushes on every service. Read why pushes go missing on these phones before you blame your provider.

hello@signops.dev
What is the best free push notification service?

For sending only, Firebase Cloud Messaging is free with no limit. For a service that also stores tokens per user, targets topics and schedules sends, OneSignal, Pusher Beams and SignOps are free for 1,000 users or devices.

Is there a free push notification service for both Android and iOS?

Yes. FCM sends to Android and, with your APNs key, to iOS, free. Expo's push service is free for both on Expo apps. SignOps is free for 1,000 devices across Android, iOS and the web.

Can I send push notifications without Firebase?

On iOS, yes, straight through APNs. On Android with Google Play services, FCM is the delivery path every service uses underneath. Phones without Google services, such as recent Huawei models, need the maker's own push service.
